NICOLA ADAMS has guaranteed Great Britain at least a silver medal after reaching the women's flyweight final.

And her bid to become the first British boxer to retain an Olympic title for 92 years continues.

Adams, 33, beat China's Ren Cancan - who she won gold against in London 2012 - in Thursday's semi-final.

The Leeds-born puncher was wobbled after losing the first of four two-minute rounds.

But she bounced back to claim the final three in style.

Adams will now face either Colombia's Ingrit Valencia Victoria or France's Sarah Ourahmoune in Saturday's final.

Speaking after the bout, she said: "Another gold-medal fight - I can't wait. This is what I've been training for for the last four years. I'm excited."
